Forskolin

Forskolin is an extract from the Indian Coleus plant, a plant in the mint family. Is this the silver bullet? What do you think? You have probably seen the commercials and read the ads, maybe even gotten the emails that say it is an effective tool for weight loss.

The Coleus plant has been used in herbal medicine for a considerably long time. It has been used to treat asthma, constipation, heart disease and bronchitis and who knows centuries ago.

But now, it is thought to raise cAMP, a compound that might stimulate fat burning from cellular level. I don’t think my cells are fat! (that’s a joke)

Forskolin has been said to Rapidly melt belly fat, that it will ignite your metabolism, increase your muscle mass. It is lightening in a bottle and a miracle flower to fight fat, works like a furnace inside your body.
Sound like a silver bullet.

There have been two small studies that were contradictory. Basically, there was a reduction of fat and an increase in lean muscle, but no change in weight. If Forskolin is increasing lean muscle it is because it raises testosterone, which can be a big problem for some people.

The safety of Forskolin is unknow as no through studies have been performed. Some individuals are advised not to use this. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should avoid Forskolin. Anyone taking anti-platelet drugs or blood thinners.

Persons taking some blood pressure drugs should not take Forskolin. If you have a polycystic kidney, avoid this.
Those Medicines are:
Hydralazine
Calcium channel blockers
Clonidine
Beta-blockers
Forskolin is an unregulated supplement. You MUST consult with your doctor, before taking this, or starting any weight loss program.

I don’t see a silver bullet here, just a lot of hype and no real evidence.

Forskolin will need real trials to determine if it is safe and effective.
As always, I recommend a sensible eating plan and exercise to drop pounds at a safe rate.

HCG

This diet should not be confused with the IFD diet seen in the previous post “Diet Plans” this diet although similar is different.

HGC is short for Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, a hormone found in women and men. Higher quantities are produced by women during pregnancy. This consists of 244 amino acids and Dr. ATW Simeons, an Endocrinologist in Great Britain.

This diet plan is touted as a new approach to obesity, I assume it will also work for lesser weight loss amounts. Dr. Simeon’s believed that obesity is due to a malfunctioning part of the body, causing the obese to accumulate fat. That their condition was not just because of eating patterns

Although the higher consumption of sugar and starches continue to build up in the body, in modern times. Most often this fat settles in the buttocks, hips, stomach and the thighs. The good Dr. looked at several possible solutions/causes and found it is the hypothalamus.

This is a part of your brain that controls, digestion, sleep, breathing and sex. I can’t find anywhere that your sex will improve with this diet. The doctor believed that this part of the brain also has some control over where fat is stored.

The hypothalamus is where the HCG drops and diet plan come in. The diet was first introduced in the 1970’s. Been around a long time, must be helping some people.
You take this in drop form, hold them under your tongue for about 15 seconds. And do not eat or drink anything for at least 15 minutes. This diets protocol calls with staying at 500 calories while on the plan.

 

This can be quite difficult for some people and may cause those to quit prematurely. But for the obese and overweight among us, that may have tried other plans and failed, this may be the ticket.

There is an approved food list that contains the food allowed to eat. The list contains, veggies, fruit, tuna (in water), lobster, lean steak, lean ground beef and more.There are also supplements that they recommend you take.

As always I recommend a sensible eating plans and exercise to lose those pounds slowly and safely.

  1. Forkskolin sounds exactly what I need but I think that I may have contraindications re I’m on Beta Blockers but the benefits are incredible and to think all from a member of the Mint family 🙂

    I really do believe that food holds the key in the prevention and aid of most of our modern day illnesses and diseases.

I have been in the landscaping and gardening field for some time now and have done research on plants that has healing wonders and this plant seems to be one of those. This plant has lot of great benefits to it including being used as a fat burner. Your readers will love this information
